ROLE MODEL RESOURCE CENTER

Step #1: Set up your preliminary teacher meeting.

Now that you have been matched with your classroom, it is your responsibility to contact the teacher within three days of receiving your assignment. Often it can be challenging to reach your Role Model teacher. Be persistent. The best time to call is before school, after 2 p.m., or during lunch. If you have made several calls and are unable to reach your teacher, call us and we will intervene.

Step #2: Meet with your role model teacher at your assigned school.

Most schools require visitors to check in, so stop at the main office and follow the visitor procedure. Use the Teacher/Role Model Meeting Checklist as a guide when you meet with your teacher in person. Review each item on the checklist. Do not leave your teacher meeting without a schedule of your visit dates, and a basic knowledge of the make-up of the classroom you will be visiting.

Step #3: Email your visit information.

Email us with the dates of your Role Model classroom visits. You will receive a follow-up phone call from us if we do not receive a visit date email from you within two weeks of notifying you of your teacher match.

Step #4: Prepare for your visits.

Put as much time into preparing for your classroom visit as you would for a professional/work assignment. The sooner you prepare for your visits, the better off you will be. Preparing the night before could leave you pressed for time the morning of your first visit. Most Role Models spend at least 30-45 minutes preparing for each visit. The Role Model Resource Center is filled with planning tools to help you.
