Pinn Recognized for his Fundraising Efforts in Support of Local College Access Program for Low Income Youth
SAN JOSE, Calif.—November 17, 2008—The Role Model Program today announced that one of its corporate fundraisers, Greg Pinn of Pinn Brothers Fine Homes & Hotels, is being honored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) for his fundraising efforts on November 17 at an awards ceremony for Silicon Valley Philanthropy Day.
Greg Pinn, vice president of land development for his successful family owned business in Saratoga, California, has played an instrumental role in The Role Model programs fundraising efforts by sponsoring the organization’s yearly golf tournament. These golf tournaments have helped raise more than $500,000 for the organizations programs to help underserved youth in Santa Clara County schools achieve a better future through education.
Since 1987, AFP Silicon Valley Chapter has honored the contributions of local philanthropists at an awards luncheon held annually in conjunction with National Philanthropy Day. This year, AFP SVC will honor eight outstanding honorees for their contributions to philanthropy in Silicon Valley, along with 35 other honorees in the Distinguished Volunteer Fundraiser category. The Distinguished Volunteer Fundraiser award recognizes the service and leadership of volunteers who fundraise for nonprofit organizations.
The Role Model Program is the leading early intervention, college access program in the Bay area dedicated to helping underserved youth achieve their greatest potential through education.
“We are thrilled that Greg Pinn was selected as a stand-out volunteer fundraiser in Silicon Valley,” stated Marybeth Affleck-Nacey, executive director of The Role Model Program. “The success of our program and others like can be attributed to the dedicated, caring volunteers like Greg Pinn who sacrifice their own time and money to help others. Greg has made a tremendous impact on The Role Model Program by taking a role in our program and changing students’ lives. We are grateful for his hard work and dedication.”
